Job Responsibilities

As a support educator, you will implement working methods and approaches in the organization. Your tasks include building relationships, supporting, guiding, and assisting users in various everyday situations, maintaining social contacts and relationships. You should also be able to have a central role in the organization where you collaborate with care educators, lead team meetings, and play an important role within the team in working with individuals according to an educational structure.

All support measures, e.g., activities, cleaning, laundry, food, personal support, and physical care, are based on the individual needs and wishes of the users in accordance with LSS legislation and Malmö city's LSS plan and values.

The work should promote independence, participation, and be carried out with respect for the user's integrity and self-determination. You will work systematically with social documentation.

You will collaborate with your colleagues and other stakeholders and work with users based on their implementation plans and action plans that you develop together with the users. Participate in finding solutions and methods that develop the work. Work to increase the educational approach that supports each individual's participation and self-determination.

The assignment also includes handling medications.

The position includes day, evening, and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with post-secondary education comprising at least 200 YH points or 60 higher education credits. The education should have a clear focus on the disability field and/or the behavioral sciences. Additional post-secondary education in the disability field is an advantage.

Experience working within LSS for at least 1 year is required, as well as experience working with individuals using clear pedagogical methods and low-arousal responses. Experience with any of the following is considered an advantage: TAKK (Signs as Support), AKK (Alternative and Augmentative Communication), Prader-Willi syndrome, and psychiatric diagnoses.

You have good computer skills and can express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish.

You have a pedagogical approach, are quality-conscious, meticulous, and committed to meeting the goals and intentions according to the LSS law. To thrive in your professional role, you should have good self-awareness and a positive attitude. Furthermore, you are creative and want to be involved in developing our operations. You have the ability to work both in a team and independently and take your own initiatives.

Great importance is placed on personal suitability.

About the Workplace

The organization targets Malmö residents who have been granted housing according to LSS. The users have varying needs, interests, and wishes. The interventions and activities are guided by needs and are carried out individually with the individual user or together with other users in a group.

The operations are located in Bunkeflostrand, where staff groups from two operations have merged into one staff group. Your position includes working in both operations, which are about a 3-minute walk apart.

In the disability support administration, over 3000 employees work together to create and develop even better support and services for people with disabilities. Our operations include LSS, social psychiatry, personal assistance, guides, and respite care, as well as health and medical care. Severely ill children receiving care at home are also part of our mission.
